At Sanity's Edge
I just tossed up a splash page for a "coming soon" website by my good friend Madelyn, aka At Sanity's Edge.

Wow! She is really pretty. I like the way her eyes stand out so sharply... what did you do to make them look like that?
I layered a black and white image on top of the original and erased the eyes from the black and white layer so the color would show through. Then I created several copies of the colored layer and changed their blending mode to overlay, adjusting the opaqueness of the copies until I got the shiny effect I was looking for.
